The kids had a blast painting one Saturday morning. I made homemade paints because I know my kids and I know they eat everything. And that turned out to be a good idea.
She wanted to spell Mom. I think she was just trying to butter me up before trying to eat the paint. :)
I love the look on Charlie's face while he watches her taste the paint.
Unfortunately, the paint (which was made from flour and water) was nearly impossible to wash off. It got hard and crusted onto the kids clothing and skin. We put Charlie in the sink to try to hose him off, which ended up being his favorite part of the whole experience.
My little cowboy. :)
What's more fun than an empty box? Seriously. This thing kept my kids busy for days. God bless this box.
Reese loves art projects, and she was super excited to work on extra projects for Valentine's Day. We made lots and lots of Valentine's Day art to deliver to our nearest and dearest. :)
Her handwriting has gotten so good lately (in my humble proud parent opinion).
This love bug was for Grandma and Grandpa, and she wanted to write their names on the back. :)
I had to sneak into Charlie's room to grab something during his nap the other day, and once I saw how incredibly sweet he looked, I couldn't resist grabbing the camera.
And since he was so sweet, I did it again the next day. :)
My silly gal.
More Valentine's Day projects. This one was supposed to be a "heart" air balloon.
The kids' favorite thing to do in the tub is scream at each other and laugh hysterically. It would probably be annoying if it wasn't so funny.
We brought the slide up from the basement to help to battle the stir crazies. It started out as a completely safe activity, but Charlie soon discovered that he could surf down the slide. We count every day we don't end up in the ER as a blessing.
Charlie could care less about the workbench Santa brought him for Christmas. He's too busy climbing tables and spinning chandeliers. Reese, on the other hand, loves it.
My little helper preparing dinner. :)
We made homemade pizzas for dinner last week, and the kids enjoyed making a pretend pizza while the real one was in the oven.
Charlie has been talking up a storm lately. His vocabulary is really exploding right now. He is using a lot of 3 word sentences (most frequently, "I want it" "I need it" "I like it" and "Give me it"). It seems like there's a new phrase/sentence daily, and they usually crack us up. His latest gem though, is saying, "I love you." Hearing him say those 3 little words is so amazing. However, he has learned that he melts my heart with it, and he will frequently say it after doing something naughty, or when he is trying to get his way.
Last Sunday, I walked into the toy room to find the kids playing basketball with their babies.
We were feeling extra stir crazy yesterday, so I found a Groupon to Bounce Town and we escaped for a couple hours. The kids had so much fun. And they came home exhausted, which was fantastic.
Charlie climbed in and out of this ring for 30 minutes straight. I love that ring.
We had Charlie's 18 month check up yesterday. Yes. I know. He's almost 21 months old. He's my second child. Time gets away from me a bit. :)
He measured 30 lbs, 7 oz (95%) and 35.5" (97%). In other words, he's a beast.
Last night, Reese and I had a girls night out. I took her to the middle school to see their production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. She loved it (although I think she annoyed the people next to us with her constant questions through the show). We had so much fun. The highlight of the night was when someone gave her a golden ticket they found in their candy bar at intermission. She got to trade it in for a CD of the music from the show.
This morning, we headed to Oswego library to get out of the house. The kids enjoyed story time, and we stayed and played for most of the morning. Reese loved the puzzles they had. I was so impressed watching her focus while she figured each of them out.
Charlie….pretty much destroyed the place.
At one point during our library visit, another mom, who had a son playing alongside Charlie, asked how old Charlie was. Her eyes bugged out a little when I said that he is almost 21 months old. He was bigger than her 2.5 year old. That would have been humorous in itself, but I think the mother became slightly concerned when Charlie walked over to her son, looked him in the eye, and growled, "I'M HUNGRY." It was seriously the best part of my whole day. Hilarious. (The mother and her son left shortly after that.)
This evening, Reese surprised me with her crazy monster look. She was so proud. :)
However, she gave us a really hard time at bedtime. She insisted on sleeping with her door open and the hall light on (in addition to having her closet door open and her closet light on like every other night). I went in to check on her a little bit ago, and I couldn't resist taking a picture. So sweet.
