When we got home from Florida, we had our first snow, and Reese had fun playing in it. My parents came over & pulled her in the sled. She looked slightly terrified or angry most of the time, but any time the sled stopped, she would ask to do it again, so apparently she was enjoying it. Matt built her a snowman, and she loved it.
It snowed again a couple weeks later, and she loved it then as well, but she did fall & get her first face full of snow.
She is starting to recognize colors. If you show her a ball that is a certain color, she will find one that matches. She can name her colors, but not extremely consistently yet. She's definitely getting there though! She has been enjoying coloring a lot, and we did a mess free finger painting project last weekend.
Mom, quit bothering me while I'm working!
She also enjoyed making valentines for her grandmas and cousins.
Reese's vocabulary continues to amaze us, and she has been catching us off guard by using a lot of sentences and saying some unexpected things lately. For instance, the other day, we were in the kitchen, and she held up her hands in question and said, "Where'd the coffee go?" I did a double take and asked her what she said, and she repeated it. Now that she knows it gets a reaction, she says it all the time. It cracks me up. Another sentence she has started using is, "I need it!" We have NO idea where she picked that up, but she uses it appropriately, and we try not to laugh, because I'm not sure we want to encourage that one.
She is learning to sing songs now, and she will surprise us by singing along to a song when we didn't even realize that she knew the words. Most of the songs she knows are from Yo Gabba Gabba (surprise, surprise), but she also sings Itsy Bitsy Spider and Ring Around The Rosie. There is a Yo Gabba Gabba song where they sing each character's name: Ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma, MUNO, MUNO! Pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa PLEX, PLEX! and so on and so forth. Reese has started singing this song (but she always says Ba ba ba ba no matter what she's singing about). She started by doing the Gabba characters name, but eventually started adding Ba ba ba ba ba ba MOMMY! and ba ba ba ba ba ba DADDY! She will also say REESE! The other day, she caught us off guard & melted our hearts when she sang ba ba ba ba BABY BROTHER! So cute.
Although we are super excited about the baby arriving in June, I'm starting to get a little sentimental and sad about our family no longer being a unit of 3. It's making me sad to think about trying to share our attention with a new baby, and how much of an adjustment that is going to be for Reese. We have been wanting to take a vacation "just the three of us" before life changes drastically, and we just recently booked a trip to San Diego for the beginning of March. We are just doing a long weekend there, but we are SO excited to take Reese on her first official vacation. We have stocked up on lots and lots of stuff to keep her occupied for the 4.5 hour flight, so we'll see how it goes. We are really excited about our trip, and the next blog post should be full of the details!
Before we booked our trip to San Diego, we were looking at some Caribbean destinations, so we had gotten Reese a passport. She won't need it for this trip, but we got a good laugh about her picture. Our little fugitive!
I made a video of all of the things she is doing right now (well, as many things as I could get her to cooperate for). She tends to get focused on seeing my phone taking the video, and won't really do anything, but we got a decent collection of her current skills. Enjoy!
