Reese's 1st Birthday at the Zoo

We went to Brookfield Zoo to celebrate Reese's official birthday today. It was a mildly warm 98 degrees outside, so the zoo wasn't too crowded, which was nice. Jordan & Olivia loaned us a fan to put on Reese's wagon, which helped a lot, & we spent a lot of time alternating between outdoor & indoor exhibits. We also found a few sprinkler areas, which helped as well. She drank a TON of water, & we even shared a couple bites of ice cream (Hey, it's her birthday. I'll go back to being a nutrition warden in the morning.).

Overall, Reese had a great day. She loved the animals, & she made animal sounds all day long. She has been making the monkey sound for awhile now, but this week, she started scratching her armpits while she does it, which is hilarious. She had fun doing that in the monkey building, & it cracked us up. She enjoyed mooing at the cows (at the children's zoo area), & roaring at the lions. If she wasn't familiar with an animal, she would just quack, since that's her favorite thing to do.

We ended the day at home, playing with all of her new toys. She loves relaxing in the chair that we got her as our 1st birthday gift to her.

I still can't believe that my baby is one. This past year has been, by far, the best year of my life (and there were a lot of really amazing years before this, so that's saying something). Matt & I have been completely blown away by how incredible it is to be parents. This little girl lights up every single second of every single day. It's overwhelming to love someone so much. We are so very blessed. :)
